This weekend the BMO Centre will be packed full of beer guzzlers, sausage & sauerkraut eaters and oompah band groupies. The reason for all of these German heritage festivities is that the first Calgary Oktoberfest is being held September 27th & 28th.

There will be a bunch of local pubs serving up some traditional German dishes and other tasty bites, live music & entertainment and of course BEER! The beer selection will include four authentic Bavarian style beers and craft beer from great local Alberta microbreweries. Some of the microbreweries include: Bear Hill Brewing Company; The Grizzly Paw Brewing Company; Big Rock Brewery; Brew Brothers Brewing Company; Brewsters; Tool Shed Brewing Company; Village Brewery; and Wild Rose Brewery.

So put on your favourite lederhosen or dirndel and get down there to celebrate! This could be another annual festival for Southern Albertans to add to their event calendars.

P.S. If you get lost, just listen for the sounds of people singing the “Ein Prosit” song and follow the noise.
